WomenShelter of Long Beach (2020)

In 2020, we were proud to reprise our collaboration with WomenShelter of Long Beach to add an additional 10 beds to their outstanding shelter for domestic violence survivors. This 3,500 sq.ft. renovation was led by Builder Captain Milender White, who took the lead on demolition, project budget, permitting and renovation and donated project management time and expertise as an in-kind contribution to the project.

Renovations included: replacement of windows to bring room to code and increase bed space, replacement of shower pan and possible subfloor, replacement of major appliances in the downstairs kitchen, replacement of flooring and major appliances in the upstairs kitchen, conversion of an existing room into a bathroom with shower, and conversion of an office room into bedroom for 4-6 people.

To watch an October 25th, 2020 livestream of the ribbon cutting featuring Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, HALA President Erik Pfahler, and Milender White Executive Vice President and District Manager Adam Mack, click here.
